Bell 429
The 429 employs the all-new modular airframe concept and the advanced rotor blade design from the MAPL (Modular Affordable Product Line) program, whilst maintaining an engine and rotor drive system from the 427. The main rotor blades have swept tips with the tail rotor employing a two stacked, two bladed system for a reduced noise signature. A glass cockpit is standard as is a 3 axis autopilot, with an option for a 4 axis system. Standard configuration is for a skidded fuselage with a retractable under carriage option. This gives a higher cruise speed but increases the basic empty mass. There is also a clamshell rear door option for HEMS configuration.
