Bell 407 GX
The first production 407 flew in 1995 and is probably best thought of as what we all hoped for in the Bell 206 LongRanger L4. A new four bladed rotor system combined with the 813hp of the Alison 250-C47 single turbine give the 407 healthy levels of speed and performance, combined with the manoeuvrability offered by a multi blade rotor system. Other mods from the 206 LongRanger fuselage, such as carbon tail and larger windows give the 407 a roomy and comfortable, modern cockpit and cabin. Variants include the GX, GXP and GXi essentially incorporating more powerful 250-C47 engines and upgrades to the Garmin G1000 avionics suite. The GX was an avionics upgrade to Garmin G1000 avionics.
