First flown in 1962, the Bell Jet ranger is arguably the most iconic helicopter of all time. It is used prolifically around the world in private, commercial and utility roles. Notable variants are the L1, L3 and L4 Long rangers, effectively lengthening the fuselage and each seeing slight refinements and avionics upgrades coupled with evolving and more powerful RR250 powerplants. A classic silhouette, it is recognised by those inside and outside of aviation. Statistically, the Bell Jet Ranger is one of the safest aircraft in the world. Proven, ease of maintenance, fantastic parts availability, easy to own. The L4 brought significant upgrades to the engine and drive train giving similar performance to the Bell 407 but retaining the benefits of a 2 bladed system.
